“What we weigh is not the most important thing, but if what we weigh is negatively affecting any part of our life, it may be time to consider The Balanced Weigh.” -Dr. Linda Willis.

Dr. Linda Willis developed The Balanced Weigh (TBW) program, and over the past 20 years has partnered with over 4,000 southern Oregon residents to participate in the program. Dr. Willis has a doctorate degree in nutrition and exercise physiology, and has been a health educator for 34 years in both college and hospital settings.

Linda is a gifted teacher whose no-nonsense humorous approach to weight management has resulted in a highly successful health/weight management program that focuses on total health and well-being. Program participants typically experience reductions in body weight as well as reduced measures of total cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure. Other health risks associated with overweight or obesity are also minimized as participants complete TBW program. Because of the program’s success, many southern Oregon health care providers refer patients to Dr. Willis’ program.

The Balanced Weigh program teaches you skills for a “healthier you” and includes:

  • An Information Meeting, two one-on-one consultations, 7 weeks of classes, and weekly evaluation of your food and activity records.
  • A packet of all program materials, a healthy recipe cookbook, and ongoing The Balanced Weigh Health Newsletters.
  • Classes focus on real food and physical activity & the importance of these two for good health.
  • Class topics include restaurant eating, deciphering food labels, fake foods & products, food portion control, and giving yourself the gift of physical activity.
  • Time in each class identifies food fads & fallacies and how to avoid wrong turns on the road to improved health.

Participant Testimony

“How was I ever mystified by why I weighed so much in the past? A healthy weight all seems so simple now - just eat right and exercise. I am grateful every single day for the lifestyle changes that you coached me through. I feel great, and every day mere acquaintances - like the pharmacy clerk - comment on how much healthier and attractive I look. I tell them about your program, if they are curious. I have been having a great time learning to row this summer, being coached by my awesome son. I have been hiking a lot. Wagner Butte is beautiful! I have actually entertained thoughts of trying Mt. McLaughlin sometime in the near future - I will let you know if I do. My knees no longer hurt, thank goodness! What a fantastic answer you have to share with those who are open enough to hear and understand! Many thanks for your program.” A grateful participant.

(This participant has achieved and maintained a 65 pound weight loss over the last nine months.)
